At MagicBlock, our mission is simple: enable developers to build fully onchain, real-time applications on Solana without compromises.

Today, we’re excited to share that we’ve raised a $7.5 million Seed round to continue pushing the limits of what’s possible onchain. This round was led by Lightspeed Faction, with participation from Maven11, Delphi Digital, Robot Ventures, Mechanism Capital, Equilibrium, Pivot Global, and a group of respected angel investors including Anatoly Yakovenko, Mert Mumtaz, and Tristan Yver.

This raise follows a $3M pre-seed led by a16z CSX in September 2024, bringing our total funding to $10.5M. It gives us the fuel to scale our engineering team, grow the developer ecosystem, and double down on the infrastructure powering the next generation of real-time onchain apps.

Why We Exist: Real-Time, Fully Onchain

Real-time applications - whether in gaming, trading, or messaging - have always struggled with blockchain latency. Appchains offer customization but fracture liquidity. L2s reduce fees but break composability. Builders are forced to compromise.

MagicBlock solves that.

With our Ephemeral Rollup technology, developers get ultra-low latency, elastic throughput, and fully native Solana composability. No bridges. No L2 tradeoffs. Just raw performance, purpose-built for the demands of fully onchain applications.

Whether it’s streaming data, high-frequency trading, or multiplayer gaming, developers can now tap into Solana’s speed and liquidity while getting the real-time flexibility typically only available to centralized services.

Tech Designed for Builders, by Builders

Our tech is led by co-founders Andrea Fortugno and Gabriele Picco, who pioneered the concept of Ephemeral Rollups - a new execution layer on Solana that dynamically scales runtimes and plugins based on demand.

Instead of moving off-chain, apps stay native to Solana and can call plugins like:

  • 1ms real-time pricing streams
  • Custom sequencing logic
  • Permissioned execution environments

It’s a radical shift from legacy L2 thinking. Developers get the control they need, without losing access to Solana’s composable universe.

Growing with the Ecosystem

We’re not building in a silo. We’ve already teamed up with some of the most forward-thinking projects in the Solana ecosystem, including:

  • Flash Trade: a decentralized derivatives exchange using our rollups for real-time, gas-efficient trading
  • Supersize: an onchain real-time multiplayer game built for maximum verifiability and composability
  • dTelecom: decentralized voice and video, powered by ephemeral rollups for ultra-low latency
  • Pyth Lazer: providing 1ms price feeds via MagicBlock runtime extensions
  • Jito: leveraging restaking to reduce execution time and improve validator security

These partnerships are more than integrations. They’re validation of the need for infrastructure that keeps pace with modern user expectations.

What’s Next

We’re just getting started. With this new capital, we’re:

  • Hiring more engineers to scale our runtime infrastructure
  • Expanding plugin support for more real-time use cases
  • Working with builders to launch apps that were previously impossible to run fully onchain

As co-founder Andrea Fortugno puts it:

“Every developer wants to build on the fastest chain with the deepest liquidity - that’s Solana. But they also want the customizability and real-time performance of a Web2 server. With MagicBlock, they don’t have to choose.”

If you’re building something that needs speed, composability, and real-time performance, we want to hear from you.

Let’s make Web3 feel like Web2, without giving up what makes it powerful.
